Traditional Acupuncture

Traditional acupuncture originates from the earliest records of Chinese Medicine that are approximately 3000 years old. The purpose of acupuncture is to regulate and harmonize the essential energies in our body that we refer to as Qi and Blood. We do this by working with the flow of energy in the meridians and by placing very fine needles into specific points on the body. The aim of the treatment is to specifically rebalance those systems that are causing you to feel unwell, as well as to connect you more deeply with your true nature.

Moxibustion (moxa) is a lovely technique that uses the herb Mugwort. This herb releases heat into the body creating a soothing, warming effect. It is a particularly useful treatment for physical pain and injury, as well as chronic, stubborn illnesses. Moxa comes in many different forms and can be used to treat many different conditions.

Similar cupping practices can be found in many different cultures around the world. Small glass cups are placed on selected areas of the body to create a vacuum. This assists in bringing pathogens to the surface and releasing toxins from the body. The cups can be left in place for a short time, or moved along the meridians in order to encourage movement and release throughout the body.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is a traditional technique where a small instrument is rubbed along the skin. Like cupping, this is used to release built-up toxins, relieve congestion and move ‘stuck’ energy in the body.
